Dopamine Addicted Rats I — excerpt

On attention loops, reward prediction, and the self we keep scrolling past.

Somewhere out there they ran some tests. On rats, with probes in their heads, on the pretext of studying chemistry of the brain. The rats, needless to say, weren’t asked. The probes, obviously, didn’t plead. The rats kept on asking for more electrocution instead of being bore. The more they asked the more they got, all desires for food, or even life, they forgot. Scientists claim this is how we behave. Take our plays away and we misbehave. Internet, series, cheese, and porn all trigger dopamine with which we are born. The system has gotten the needles in, little shocks of FB, Insta, and LinkedIn. We’ve forgotten life or will to live, in the virtual world we breath. Like dopamine addicted rats, Avoiding boredom and being crass.
